Terraces
Later Uses
These techniques were used in places where water was limited and there was a heavy reliance on rainfall (Dominguez and Kolm 2005). Where supplementary water was abundant, many of these techniques were eventually modified or abandoned (Dominguez and Kolm 2005). Though the terraces were abandoned, one can still learn from the methods the Hopi utilized and perfected. Excess water consumption is still a problem today, especially in large industrial farms. Implementing methods such as terracing has the potential to resolve problems of drought and excess water consumption.
